One of the hottest rifles on the surplus market today is the FAL. Adopted by more than 90 countries, the FN-FAL came to be known as "the right arm of the free world": As the AK-47 came to
symbolize Communist revolutionaries so the FAL_ came to symbolize the \Nests stand for freedom. Today. though. the FAL has been replaced in front-line service in most of the countries it once protected.
This, of course. has put thousands of them, and tons of spare parts. up for sale and they have been showing up at bargain-basement prices on the U.S. surplus market. Built up from parts kits, however, many of these bargain rifles are no bargain at all, Often these rebuilt rifles exhibit poor quality control. or functioning problems due to the unskilled hands that quickly threw them together, Since we like FALs as
much its the next guy, SOF decided to take a look at one of the better FAL rifles currently available. Offered by Enterprise Arms, the
STG 58C is built from both American and Austrian Parts, Austria was one of the many countries to adopt the FAL, where it served as the Sturmgewehr 58, From 1885 until after the First World War the Austrian Army had been equipped with domestically designed and manufactured Mannlicher
