Answer:
The basic take down procedure for the STG58C rifle is:
- Remove the magazine and physically verify an empty chamber.
- Pull the take down latch toward the rear.
- With the takedown latch pulled toward the rear, pull down the lower assembly. The lower
should pivot away from the upper at the rear.
- Pull the dustcover off the receiver from the rear.
- Pull the bolt and carrier off the receiver from the rear.
- The rifle is ready for basic maintenance.
